The unveiled brain is inspired by an earlier work from the monochrome phase 'Where are you epilepsy?' (sold), spikes penetrating the brain inspired by Bourgeois's 'The stretch' held by the The Tate. The ivy winding up from (or into?) the brain represents the conscious and unconscious stream of thoughts. Produced by the influence of surroundings and interactions, we are in a two way dialogue with our environment even with our eyes closed. Ivy is notorious as being 'destructive', but in reality it's hardy and fast growing, symbolic of our cogitations. The brain does not feel this penetrative pain but does the person?
